E.K. Blessing shipping new BFH-1541 Flugelhorn!
Elkhart, Indiana (July 1, 2011) – E. K. Blessing, a subsidiary of Verne Q. Powell Flutes, has upgraded the BFH-1540 flugelhorn to the new BFH-1541. The BFH-1541 made its debut at the International Trumpet Guild conference last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Throughout the show top trumpet professionals consistently commented that the BFH-1541T is “ridiculously good”. This model performs far beyond its price point and was unofficially tabbed as the top performing Flugelhorn at ITG.
Jazz greats such as Red Rodney played Blessing flugelhorns and the new model recaptures some of the character of the old Blessing instruments while also incorporating significant improvements. The BFH-1541 features a newly designed valve cluster profile, which is sleeker and more professional than any previous Blessing flugelhorn design. Renowned trumpet maker Cliff Blackburn was integral to the acoustical redesign of the Blessing BFH-1541 and his modifications to the first branch have made this the most in-tune flugelhorn available today.
Dr. Amanda Pepping, assistant professor of music at Georgia State University in Atlanta played the BFH-1541 at the ITG, “Within the first few minutes of playing what is now my Blessing flugelhorn, I knew I had something special. The core sound of the instrument grabs the attention of the room. It was easy to play the full range of the instrument centered, in tune, and with personality. This is a fantastic instrument.”
As with all Blessing instruments, the BFH-1541 is manufactured at the Blessing factory in Elkhart, Indiana by some of the most experienced and talented brass instrument makers in the world.
The BFH-1541 features the following specifications:

- 6” bell (available in one-piece red copper or two-piece brass)
- Hand-lapped Monel pistons
- Lacquer brass or silver plated finish available
- 3rd valve slide trigger
- New professional valve cluster
- 3FL mouthpiece
Available in both the standard hard shell case as well as the all new back packer with both single side carry strap as well as double back straps.
